The Brain Is displays numerous, often competing, ways of conceptualising the brain. The project composes an answer to what the brain "is" in an iterative, computational way; sentences cycle continually through various ideas, and one is chosen totally at random. Ideas about the brain shift so quickly that the reader barely has time to keep up. The question, then, is whether this project invigorates or perturbs the viewer. How do we think of the brain and the state of investigation and agreement within the neurosciences?
